Starlink Leases First Office Space in Delhi, Signals India Push

New Delhi: Elon Musk-owned satellite internet company Starlink has leased its first office space in northern India, marking another step toward establishing a formal presence in the country, according to people familiar with the development.

The company has taken up a 50-seater managed office at World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, operated by premium flexible workspace provider Corporate Edge. The location is emerging as a preferred hub for global technology firms, with Open AI also having leased its first India office at the same complex.

Industry sources said companies such as Starlink and Open AI are choosing Delhi addresses to remain close to policymaking and regulatory centres, especially as they navigate approvals and engage with government stakeholders. These firms are also seeking operational flexibility, making high-end managed offices with hospitality-style services an attractive option.

Earlier this month, Starlink briefly listed residential pricing details on its India website, triggering speculation about an imminent launch. The company later clarified that the listing was a technical glitch. While Starlink has not officially announced the commercial rollout of its services in India, the office lease suggests preparations are underway.

Starlink did not respond to queries, while Corporate Edge declined to comment.

Corporate Edge is expanding rapidly, having recently leased 51,000 square feet at Godrej GCR in Gurugram. The firm expects to close the current fiscal year with an operational and signed portfolio of 590,000 square feet. It has also marked its international foray with a 36,000-square-foot lease in Dubai.

In November, Starlink signed a memorandum of understanding with the Maharashtra government to explore satellite internet connectivity for government departments, rural areas and public infrastructure. However, regulatory approvals and timelines for a nationwide commercial launch remain unclear.

According to property consultancy CBRE, India’s flexible office stock is projected to grow from 80 million square feet in 2024 to 125 million square feet by 2027, with the Delhi-NCR region accounting for nearly 25% of the incremental supply. Rating agency ICRA has noted a shift in demand patterns, with large enterprises now driving 55–60% of flexible workspace demand, replacing startups as the primary occupiers.

Starlink’s Delhi office lease adds to the growing presence of global AI and space-tech companies positioning themselves closer to India’s regulatory and policy ecosystem.
